Ann Arbor's Penny Seats Theatre Company Kicks off 2016 season with JACQUES BREL

?The Penny Seats return to the stage this upcoming winter for Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, a musical revue of the songs of Jacques Brel, translated into English by Eric Blau and Mort Shuman. The show kicks off the sixth season for The Penny Seats and will run on Thursdays February 11th, 18th, 25th, and March 3rd, at Conor O'Neill's Irish Pub and Restaurant, 318 South Main Street, Ann Arbor. The two companies are partnering to offer a dinner theatre-style show, with dinner seatings available starting at 6:00 pm, and performances each night at 7:30pm. Audience members can purchase tickets for the dinner-and-show package for just $20, or for the show only, for $10. Theater Actor and Singer George Ball Releases Solo Recording Debut 'Think Of Me'

Award-winning theater actor/singer, George Ball, celebrates a major milestone with the immediate release of his solo recording debut, 'Think of Me' (Gecko/LML Music). Mr. Ball describes 'Think of Me' as a recording for the 'grownup at heart.' Darien Arts Center Stage is a community theatre dedicated to providing excellence in entertainment through plays, musicals, cabarets, and special events. Their Weatherstone Studio at the Darien Arts Center has recently played host to a production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Flawlessly directed by Peter Green, the timeless songs, intimate theater setting, simple set pieces, inspired costumes and brilliant Broadway-caliber cast combined for an entertaining and memorable evening. I felt privileged to be able to attend such a perfect production.

If there's one thing Colorado Springs could use right now (apart from help rebuilding after yet another devastating wildfire), it's a little catharsis. So while the timeliness of Fine Arts Center's Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris certainly wasn't intentional, it's nonetheless welcome, as Brel's clever, cynical ballads are just the sort of thing to vent all that pent up frustration and clear away some room for hope.
