
Monday, April 23, at 8pm the National Touring Company of WICKED will host "THE WICKED ROCKY HORROR SHOW", a staged concert performance of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show – Book, music & lyrics by Richard O'Brien. Held at Denver's historic Ogden Theatre, the event will feature the company of WICKED. The net proceeds of this event will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Project Angel Heart.
"THE WICKED ROCKY HORROR SHOW" is part of an ongoing series of performances by the touring company throughout the country to support charitable causes which advance WICKED's theme of acceptance and illuminate the musical's message that people should not be judged on first impressions. The company believes that in these divisive times we must come together to support those in need throughout the country and around the world. In its 7 years on the road, the company has raised over $2,000,000 in donations for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and local AIDS Services organizations all over the country.
Produced by company members, the evening is an opportunity for them to step out of their roles in the musical and kick up their (spiked) heels as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Riff Raff, Magenta, Rocky, Janet and Brad. The concert will feature company members including: Mamie Parris (Elphaba); Alli Mauzey (Glinda); Mark Jacoby (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz); Andy Kelso (Fiyero); Liz McCartney (Madame Morrible); Justin Brill, (Boq) and Emily Ferranti (Nessarose); as well as members of the ensemble and the touring staff. The event will be directed by company member Timothy A. Fitz-Gerald with choreography by Napoleon W. Gladney & Shanna VanDerwerker. Musical direction and arrangements provided by P. Jason Yarcho.
Admission to "THE WICKED ROCKY HORROR SHOW" is by donation. General admission standing room tickets are $40. VIP tickets, which include priority location and a 7:00pm pre-show reception with members of the cast, are available for $100. The evening is intended for mature audiences, and parental discretion is advised. Admission is limited to ages 16 and older (21+ to purchase alcoholic beverages).
In addition to the performance, there will be a live auction of several opportunities to join the company backstage at the Buell Theatre, including a chance to bid on a walk-on role in WICKED. WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster returns for a fourth engagement at the Buell Theatre April 11-May 20.
