Tenor Anthony Kearns Returns to Steamboat Springs, CO 8/19

Tenor-Anthony-Kearns-Returns-to-Steamboat-Springs-CO-20010101

World-class tenor Anthony Kearns is returning to Steamboat Springs, CO to be the featured entertainer at the 2011 Steamboat Institute Freedom Conference on Friday, August 19, 2011, it was announced.

Mr. Kearns will perform during a private dinner at the top of the Steamboat Ski Area in the Champagne Powder Room of the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel overlooking the beautiful Yampa Valley.

"We're so lucky to once again showcase one of the world's most talented and entertaining tenors, Anthony Kearns, for our conference guests. Anthony was a major hit at last year's conference and I know that he'll amaze us this year as well," said Jennifer Schubert-Akin, Steamboat Institute chairman and founding board member.

"I'm delighted to be invited back to this stunning mountain community of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which entranced me with its splendor last year," said Kearns, a founding member of the popular singing group, The Irish Tenors, with whom he has 10 CDs.

Mr. Kearns said his repertoire will include a mix of classical music, operatic arias, popular Irish ballads, and Broadway favorites. He will be accompanied by Marie Carmichael.

Kearns said: "Hopefully, with my music, the audience will be able to enjoy themselves for a little while, tap their toes, forget their woes, and just have a good time."

Prior to Friday's performance, Kearns will debut in his first comedic role as "Alfred" in the opera, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss Jr. with the Emerald City Opera. The one-night production will take place on Thurs. August 18, in the state-of-the-art Strings Music Pavilion at 7:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at: www.emeraldcityopera.com under Box Office.

"I'm looking forward to performing in this beloved classic operetta with a sensational cast, under the Pavilion, surrounded by mountains and stars," said Kearns.

Kirsten Fedewa, a Steamboat Institute board member and Anthony Kearns' representative, said, "Anthony Kearns is one of the most gifted tenors of our time and I'm so happy to bring his talent back to Steamboat Springs. His appearance at the conference and debut this year with the Emerald City Opera is evidence of the power and inspirational quality of Anthony's voice and performances."

In addition to being the youngest and founding member of the world-wide sensation, The Irish Tenors, Kearns has received international accolades for his performances in some of the world's most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. His flourishing international solo career includes major television appearances, concert tours, and collaborations with the finest orchestras, including the Boston Pops, the Chicagoland pops, and the Czech National Orchestra. Kearns recently performed at the Centennial Celebration of the late President Ronald Reagan in New Orleans, at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Kearns is also a member of The Recording Academy ("The GRAMMYs").
