Shadow Theatre Company's artistic members have moved on to form The SOURCE Theatre Company.
The SOURCE Theatre Company is a non- exclusive African-American theatrical company dedicated to cultivating an ensemble of indigenous artists to create original theatrical works of cultural and historical significance about the African-American experience. It is our charge to engage all generations of the community through educational, cultural, and historical training and awareness to create theater as a lynchpin, participatory activity for the African-American community.
The SOURCE is an ensemble of theatrical artists who create original works from an organic inner space to convey genuine depth and greater meaning. The SOURCE's vision is to keep live theatre alive within the multi-ethnic community of Denver by teaching the art & history of theatre to current and future generations. The SOURCE strives to give actors, directors, playwrights, designers and theatre lovers in general a platform and/or springboard to express their creativity. The SOURCE works to bring quality, never-before-seen entertainment to all cultures that enjoy & love the art of live theatre.
The SOURCE aims to plant the seeds of artistic excellence. It will be developing and presenting 2 - 4 new and original works annually. It will be offering acting workshops to adults and youth seasonally. This spring, the company held a reading of local playwright Jim Lee's "Hedgerow Spears in front of an invited audience. This summer, the company held a workshop for Hugo Jon Sayles' poetic "In the Presence of God", which will begin full production this fall and be presented to the public in November.
