NOW PLAYING: Performance Now presents HIGH SOCIETY - Thru 2/26

Performance Now Theatre Company presents HIGH SOCIETY (Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter, Book by Arthur Kopit) February 10th through the 26th at the Lakewood Cultural Center in Lakewood, CO. Tracy Lord's ex-husband, C.K. Dexter Haven, refuses to let her marry the bland George Kittredge as planned and the two reporters who arrive to cover the wedding find much more than they'd anticipated among this niche of high society.This romantic comedy set in 1938, is set to music with songs by Cole Porter, including “True Love,” “I Love Paris,” “Just One of Those Things,” and “Let’s Misbehave.” 

Returning and reprising their roles from the 2002 production is Alisa Schmidt as Tracy Lord, Craig Ross as Uncle Willie, Jane Phillips as Mother Lord, Dan Pagliasotti as Chester and ensemble member Laura Jones. The 2012 production introduces Chad Hewitt as Mike Connor, Shane Delavan as George Kittredge, and Marc Graham as C. K. Dexter Haven.

Performance Now Artistic Director Alisa Schmidt tells us, “This is our 10th anniversary season and HIGH SOCIETY was the first musical that our founder, Nancy Goodwin, directed at The Lakewood Cultural Center. It was one of her favorite musicals and we wanted to honor her by doing this show for our anniversary season.  In 2002, broke after doing Moon Over Buffalo, there was no money for HIGH SOCIETY but with loans from board members and some fund raising we pulled it off. While it was a successful run then, this time, we have a considerably larger budget to do this show the way we would have liked to back in 2002! Under the direction of Bernie Cardell with choreography by Andrew Bates and music direction by Marsha Whitaker, we have 5 of our original cast members returning, and it's great to have the chance to reprise these roles in an "upgraded" version of this wonderful show!" 

Performance Now Theatre Company's HIGH SOCIETY is captivating audiences now through 26 at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway. Michael Mulhern has lived in Denver and been active in it's theater scene for over 10 years.
