Charles Dickens GHOST STORIES by David John Preece plays at the Festival Playhouse October 14th through the 30th.  A lively mixture of comedy, pathos and the supernatural. Beguiled in his early childhood by his nursemaid's grim and ghoulish stories, Charles Dickens harbored a fascination with ghosts, apparitions and chilling coincidence. This play is for the whole family.

David John Preece has weathered the challenges and frustrations of working as an urban planner for over 30 years, his heart and mind attuned to people's needs while maintaining a cautious concern for the environment. An award-winning filmmaker and playwright, David uses his passion for the arts to convey his life experiences, individuality, and creativity. Charles Dickens GHOST STORIES is a collection of eerie Victorian tales from one of the world's greatest storytellers. While preserving the original material's humor, romance and eeriness, David's adaptation also evokes Dickens's fascination with the macabre. The stories include The Signalman, The Bagman's Uncle, The Queer Chair, and The Portrait-Painter's Story.

Director Charles Ault, Sr. started The Player Guild in 1936 as a means to put food on the table in the middle of the depression. A love for the theatre and a creative mind brought a group of talented community actors and actresses together to provide the public with live entertainment. This concept was passed on to his son Charley Ault, Jr. who now runs The Players Guild, beginning its 75th year of production.
